Short & sweet...
Hello! Just a little post today to let you in on what's been baking in my kitchen. First up are my 'Iced VoVo' cupcakes! These are so adorable to look at and super yummy with their jam filled centres.
Now for something not so sugary sweet... Mexican wedding cookies. I actually have no idea where the name comes from but they are basically a really nice simple shortbread style cookie flavoured with roasted hazelnuts and vanilla. Yum!
Lastly are my choc chip and pecan cookies that I'm eating right now in store while its raining outside!
Maiike store will of course be closed on Wednesday but otherwise as per usual. Maybe I'll be back later in the week with my Anzac biscuits! Have a lovely week!

Snuggle Up!
Happy Easter!! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was very relaxing which was super nice. I baked cupcakes and meringues and made the most amazing chocolate ice cream!
Last week in the store I did up one of our windows with our gorgeous range of knitted blankets and scarves. We thought they needed showing off and oh do they look good! There are two designs to choose from... a sweet cherry blossom with pink trim and a wintery cloudy landscape with charcoal trim. Both patterns were drawn by me and are made using extra fine merino wool. The blankets come in two sizes: bassinet and cot. The cot size is also perfect as a snuggly throw on the couch! The scarf is nice and long and great for winter, I have one myself and it's so lovely and warm and goes with everything.
Super cute yeah?!
New prices are as follows:
Cot/Throw: $200
Bassinet: $150
Scarf: $129
Come on by and check them out!

Pandan Treats!
Pandan is a relatively new discovery of mine. My fiancé is half Malaysian and has introduced me to a whole new world of amazing and delicious food. If you aren't familiar with Pandan it's a tropical plant used quite frequently in Southeast Asian cuisine. It's also very hard to describe the flavour so you'll just have to try it! One of my favourite cooking blogs Raspberri Cupcakes is run by Steph, a Malaysian foodie from Sydney. She often puts up Malaysian inspired desserts, such as the pandan lamingtons I made last weekend. Her blog is beyond amazing, please go check it out!
Don't you just love the green cake mix up against my pink kitchenaid? You can find the recipe for these lamingtons here.
I was so inspired by this recipe I decided to have my own little experiment. There is a Malaysian dessert called Kuih Ketayap which is a pandan crepe filled with a coconut and palm sugar mix. It's so delicious!
So here are my mini pandan cupcakes with palm sugar frosting and toasted coconut! Yum!

MAIIKE store blog returns!
A little bit about me... I'm 25 and live in sunny Northcote with my lovely fiancé Zac. For about 6 years now I have been working with Aly in her studio helping her create cute and cuddly soft things. I now also work at the shop on Tuesdays so please come say hi! When I'm not at the studio or the shop you can find me drawing, sewing, baking and planning my wedding!
I will try and post on here regularly about all matter of things... studio life, shop updates, my baking adventures and just a whole world of prettiness. Hope you enjoy!
